Financial health

We do not score finances when yearly spending is very small or the return has too little detail. The ratios stop meaning much at that size.

Governance

This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (3)
  1. Muslim Community Development with support for the local Muslim community that is served by the Islamic Center of Hamden (ICH), 698 Newhall Street, Hamden, CT. CCM assists in the maintenance of the building and grounds of the masjid and provides support for the masjid's services in the community. CCM serves Muslim families living in the local community, Muslim students attending the nearby universities and colleges of southern Connecticut, Muslim refugees adjusting to life in America, and Muslim travelers seeking the services of a masjid that is near the interstate highways. 200 to 300 worshipers attend the compulsory Friday prayer service. The Masjid is also open to any Muslim wishing to attend any of the five daily prayers.
  2. Distribution of charitable donations according to Islamic practices. Charitable donations positively impact needy individuals and families mostly in the New Haven area. Grants ranged in quantity from $500 to $6000 per recipient. One grant of $4,805.00 covered funeral expenses for a needy family. Donations from attendees of the Eid-al-Fitr Prayer were used to purchase rice for distribution.
  3. Contracted items used to provide the community with permissible "halal" goods at social gatherings and to provide for unanticipated hardships.
