Governance

This organization files the short tax form, which does not ask about boards, policies or audits. That is normal for a small charity and is not a mark against it.

Programs described in its return (1)
  1. $97,387 spent. Breast Cancer Education Association provides education about breast cancer prevention, treatment and survivorship. In addition, our annual conference offers resources for local breast health products, breast cancer organizations and a variety of services. The BCEA is committed to making this conference available to anyone who is looking for education and resources on breast health. Scholarships were given to attendees who could not afford the cost of registration to this conference. The annual BCEA Education Conference fills a desperate need for providing information and education to breast cancer patients and their families. Conference programming crosses all boundaries and supports a variety of healing philosophies and possibilities from surgical options and the latest updates to mind, body and spirit practices. The BCEA also provided free education webinars to more than 100 people throughout the year, and ongoing resources, support and information to anyone who contacted our office or Board members. Furthermore, BCEA volunteers and Breast Cancer Champions dedicated over 2,800 service hours throughout the year - developing educational programs and materials, educating people in communities at higher risk for breast cancer incidence and mortality, staffing events, fundraising and filling essential roles on our board and volunteer committees. We reached more than 10,100 individuals at 80 events in 2024. Mobile mammography was available at 27 events, and referrals to local clinics and health centers resulted in nearly 500 confirmed screenings. Breast Cancer Champions focus their work in African American and immigrant African communities and offer peer-to-peer, culturally appropriate education about breast cancer prevention and detection, and connect women to community resources.
