Programs described in its return (3)
- $141,136 spent. HYBRID TRAIL CREW PROGRAM - 2024 WAS THE INAUGURAL YEAR OF THE HYBRID TRAIL CREW. WE HAVE BEEN DEVELOPING THIS MODEL FOR YEARS WITH THE U.S. FOREST SERVICE - KETCHUM RANGER DISTRICT (KRD) TO ALLEVIATE ISSUES CAUSED BY FEDERAL HIRING AND FUNDING DEFICITS. THE HYBRID TRAIL CREW CONSISTS OF BOTH WRTC AND KRD EMPLOYEES WHO WORK SIDE-BY-SIDE AS ONE CREW ON THE 400+ MILES OF KRD TRAILS. THEIR MAIN OBJECTIVES DURING THE SEASON ARE BASIC ANNUAL MAINTENANCE, HEAVY MAINTENANCE, PROJECTS SUCH AS ROCK RETAINING WALLS AND TRAIL BRIDGES, AND BACKCOUNTRY HITCHES INTO REMOTE PARTS OF THE DISTRICT. THE CREW WORKS 40 HOURS A WEEK FROM MAY TO OCTOBER.
- $82,931 spent. VOLUNTEER PROGRAM - WE FACILITATE VOLUNTEER TRAIL WORK PARTIES ON U.S. FOREST SERVICE AND BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT TRAILS. DURING THESE WORK PARTIES WE TRAIN VOLUNTEERS TO DO BASIC TRAIL MAINTENANCE, SUCH AS BRUSHING, MINOR TREAD WORK, AND DRAINAGE. A SMALL SUBSET OF VOLUNTEERS WE CALL "TRAIL STEWARDS" RECEIVE MORE TRAINING SO THEY CAN HELP STAFF EXECUTE WORK PARTIES. WE ALSO HOLD "BRING YOUR OWN CREW" WORK PARTIES FOR COMPANIES TO VOLUNTEER AS A GROUP FOR LONGER DURATION PROJECTS. IN 2024 WE ORGANIZED 22 VOLUNTEER WORK PARTIES THAT INVOLVED 281 VOLUNTEERS.
- $161,990 spent. TRAIL PROJECTS PROGRAM - WE HELP FUND AND IMPLEMENT TRAIL PROJECTS ON U.S. FOREST SERVICE AND BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT LANDS. IN 2024, WE BROUGHT MAJORITY FUNDING AND IMPLEMENTED THE GREENHORN IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT PHASE I IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE KETCHUM RANGER DISTRICT. THIS PROJECT REDUCED THE NUMBER OF TRAIL BRIDGES IN THE FIRST QUARTER MILE OF GREENHORN FROM 3 TO 1, REROUTED THE TRAIL OUT OF RIPARIAN HABITAT AND REVEGETATED THE RIPARIAN AREA IMPACTED BY THE FORMER TRAIL.
