Financial health

We do not score finances when yearly spending is very small or the return has too little detail. The ratios stop meaning much at that size.

Governance

This return does not answer enough of the governance questions to score.

Impact evidence

Describes programs. Its tax return describes what it does but we have found no measurable results in it.

Programs described in its return (3)
  1. $478,662 spent. Legislative Advocacy:In 2024, FairVote Minnesota continued to make meaningful progress toward statewide ranked choice voting (RCV). Building on the legislative study authorized in 2023, which included examination of statewide RCV, we advanced the RCV Local Options bill through the Minnesota House, falling just two votes short of passage. This near-success positions the bill well for future legislative cycles and strengthens momentum for expanding local authority to adopt RCV.Bloomington Repeal DefenseA major 2024 highlight was the successful defense of RCV in Bloomington, following a well-funded repeal attempt. Working with local organizers, volunteers, and community partners, we helped ensure voters had accurate information about RCV. In November, Bloomington voters decisively rejected the repeal measure, reaffirming strong public support for fair, representative local elections.
  2. $91,669 spent. Public Outreach and Engagement:We hosted a pre-session legislative kickoff with state leaders and lobbyists, expanded our digital engagement, and ran multiple online fundraising efforts. In 2024, our digital reach included:750,000 impressions on Twitter (X)250,000 users reached on Facebook150,000 users reached on Instagram
  3. $13,916 spent. Electoral Program:We engaged in the 2024 legislative campaigns by awarding our "Democracy Badge" to candidates publicly supporting RCV and organizing supporters at precinct caucuses and party conventions to elevate RCV as a key democracy reform priority.Coalition-building:We continued to engage our coalition partners and expand our partnership with several key union and community organizations.
